Simple syrup is a kitchen basic that you should be making for yourself. A delicious simple syrup can elevate lots of recipes. From cocktails and mocktails to dessert; you can find lots of reasons to keep this ingredient on hand. Of course, we are fans of our modern twist on this timeless recipe component, our THC-infused Simple Syrup. A little goes a long way to bring maximum flavor and relaxation to your dishes.

A variety of products form THC to CBD as well as in plant and flower form.

    A note about dosing:

Be mindful of your dosage when using THC or CBD.

A standard dose of THC in an edible is 5-10 mg, so calculate accordingly. Click here for information about dosing and potency.

Start with a low dose and wait at least an hour before slowly consuming more, as the effects of ingested cannabis can take longer to kick in and can affect people differently.

Decarboxylation Demystified: Your Path to Potent Syrups

The cornerstone of any cannabis-infused concoction is the process of decarboxylation. Before combining your choice of flower with sugar and water, activating THC's full potential is crucial.

    What is Decarboxylation?

This chemical transformation occurs through carefully applied heat, ensuring that your syrup not only tantalizes the taste buds but also delivers the desired effects.

Gathering Your Tools: Assembling Your Syrup-Making Kit

To get started on this easy project, you'll need the right tools. A heavy-bottomed pot, a precise thermometer, a fine mesh strainer, and a sealable container for storage are your key pieces of equipment. With these at the ready, you're set to marry the bold flavor of cannabis into a delicious simple syrup.

Step by Step How to Make THC-infused Simple Syrup

Begin by dissolving sugar into water over a gentle simmer. Introduce the decarboxylated cannabis, ensuring it steeps at an optimal temperature that respects the delicate nature of THC. A dash of soy lecithin will bridge the fats and water, creating a delicious infusion.

Strain to Perfection: Achieving Perfectly Smooth Simple Syrup

Once the infusion is complete, the magic lies in the straining. A double strain not only ensures clarity and purity in your syrup but also respects the texture and consistency needed to blend into your recipes seamlessly.

Creative Ways to Use THC-infused Simple Syrup

This THC-laden elixir is not just for cocktails and mocktails; it's a versatile player in your meals too! Drizzle it over a breakfast pancake stack, blend it into a vinaigrette for a fruit-filled salad, or add a sweet note to your evening tea.

The synergy between the sweet and subtle earthy notes will be a delicious addition to all sorts of drinks and dishes.

Mastering the Dose: A Guide to Precision in Potency

A teaspoon of this syrup carries just over 2mg of THC - a conscientious nod to the art of dosing. The key is to start with a small amount and adjust to your personal preference as you go. It's not just about the flavor, but also the experience this simple syrup curates for the person that consumes it.

How to Store THC-infused Simple Syrup.

This recipe makes quite a bit of simple syrup. If you plan to use all of it, quickly, you can store it in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.

To store for longer periods of time, simple syrup can be frozen. It freezes solid and will stay good frozen for up to 3 months.

It really is best to preportion out servings into ice cube trays, freeze, then transfer the individual portions to a freezer-friendly container for easy dosing. To use, simply thaw the desired amount of simple syrup for the recipe you are making.

    THC-infused Simple Syrup

    JAM Team
THC can be infused easily into fats, but sweets are a little trickier, and require an emulsifier if you’re using cannabis flower. We like to keep the dose here light so that we can add as much (or as little!) to any beverage–you can easily adjust the dose to suit your taste.
This recipe makes approximately 2 cups of simple syrup, with a little over 2mg THC in each teaspoon.

    Ingredients

    • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
    • 1 ½ cups water
    • 1 gram cannabis flower decarbed
    • 1 tablespoon soy lecithin

    Instructions

    • Combine the sugar and water in a heavy-bottomed pot and heat over medium heat. Bring to a boil, then lower to a simmer until the sugar has dissolved.
    • Add the decarbed weed and steep for 30 minutes, simmering on low to maintain a temperature between 160-180°F. Stir in the lecithin and continue to cook for 5 minutes, then remove from the heat.
    • We recommend straining the syrup twice through before storing–the first pass removes the cannabis solids, and the second removes any remaining lecithin. Keep the syrup in a sealed container in your fridge until ready to use!
